Sunday Friendly lost to the weather

Unfortunately the friendly match at Thursley scheduled fror this Sunday, (10th), has been lost to the weather.

Barry Rapley, Thursley CC Chairman, takes up the story…

“…We have made a decision to call off the weekends fixtures. Another downpour ago made our minds up. I have never known our square and outfield so wet as it has been this season. I have just come home from the club and I fully understand our groundsman’s situation; too wet to mow the square, too wet to mow outfield, tractor sinking and leaving tyre marks!” Read more

Clubhouse Extension Planning Application Approved!

Dear Members!

I am delighted to confirm that our revised plan for the clubhouse extension was approved by the Elmbridge planning committee at their meeting last Monday. This is great news! 69 members and supporters went online to register their support and this had a significant bearing on the committee’s decision to approve the plan without any additional queries. Ladies Postponed

Tonight’s Women’s Surrey Trust League match at ‘home’ (East Molesey CC) between Stoke Molesey Ladies and Epsom has been postponed due to bad weather as Jon Elworthy, (EMCC), writes:

“Once again the Gods are against us and the match has had to be postponed. Andy (Page) and I will be looking to arrange another match with Epsom. Obviously as I type this the sun is coming out; but the pitch will take more than a few hours to dry out enough. See you all at Stoke (for girls’ training) on Saturday.” Read more

Whilst the weather continues to do its worst SDCC has been contacting a few clubs for some missing results to complete the club records.

Byfleet CC have kindly send us a copy of their scorebook from the 1999 season; a game where Stoke stalwart and then 2s captain Keith Watson, recognised more for his batting expolits, (over 6000 runs with four centuries…and a 99 –, turned his arm over and ran through the Byfleet order, registering the Division’s best bowling figures for that season: Read more

Extra Sunday fixture secured at Sutton this coming weekend

The Sunday XI friendly programme wasn’t meant to start in earnest until the 13th, but due to good numbers being available we have been able to advertise early for an extra fixture for this Sunday.

Not only does giving availability as soon as possible help us plan all teams for the weekend, it allows us to get in early when fixtures become available…and this week one of the leading clubs in Surrey, Sutton CC, have contacted us asking us to come and play against them. Read more
