The popular opinion was that the latest Transfer Deadline Day wasn’t the most exciting, but our Canadian Correspondent Chris Gudgeon has spotted something of interest to Stokers, Stoke D’Abernon that is, not Stoke City.

Sunday saw a working party of Pagie, Ali Mac, Rod, Jase, Malcolm, Po, Mike Furze, Ralphie & Julie and Greg & Leanne – and Hayden! – and Sarah see off the old clubhouse; proving that the Secretary’s pessimism that the work would take two days to complete to be a massive overestimate! All the tasks were done in just over two hours, and everything is stored away ready for the interior to be finished.

Thank you to those who have volunteered for Sunday’s Working Party so far to clear the Clubhouse before the refurbishment starts on Monday. Please make every effort to come down if you haven’t contacted me so far. We will be clearing everything into a container next to the Groundsman’s shed. The League AGM was held on Monday 26th January. Big changes to the points scoring system are coming in which will be captured in a separate item on the site, but for now here are some brief details of what happened at the meeting:
1. Ryman will be stopping their sponsorship at the end of the season.
2. New playing rules will be in a separate bespoke document for each tier. The rules stay the same.
3. A large number of fines are being abolished; however consistent offenders will be fined £100 by the Executive Committee, (approximately four or more offences and the number of e-mails and phone calls is the benchmark.)
4. The League elected a new Chairman, Peter Murphy. He played for Woking for 40 years, was chair of the Fuller’s Brewery Surrey County League and has been with the Championship since 1992.
The KZN 50 Over Premier League has resumed after the Christmas break. Paulie was missing for the first game of the new year, but he was back in the Berea side for their latest win to maintain their title challenge:
