More Ranji Trophy runs for Hiken to impress the in-laws…and the selectors?

Another Ranji Trophy half-century for Hiken to help Mumbai towards the knockout stages of the competition.

He spent a long time at the crease piling on the runs with Wasim Jaffer, a former Indian opening bat, (, who is second in the all-time Ranji Trophy run-scorers. Wasim made an appearance at the wedding reception on Boxing Day and met a few familiar faces from the academy at Parkside where he attended a coaching session last year.  Read more

Ken Hutchinson

Former Stoke Captain Paul Worsfold has sad news of the passing of another long-serving Stoke player. Paul writes…

“…I am also sorry to say that past member Ken Hutchinson died last week. Ken was one of the old brigade and a stalwart of the 2nd XI when I joined the club in back in the late 60s. That was the era of the old tin club house and changing rooms. Read more

Meanwhile, in the Ranji Trophy, Hiken hit another fifty, although he was disappointed at not going on having been not out overnight, the fourth time this has happened to him recently if you use the match against England as a starting point. Read more

Good turnout for Derek Wellman Funeral / Donation Details

Today an excellent turnout said goodbye to Derek Wellman in a service held at Woking Crematorium.

Tributes came in from as far away as Australia, as Ian W read an excellent eulogy, charting Derek’s life, that that was even more devoted to cricket than we remember! Mention was made of the tributes received and added to this site – anyone who did not know Derek would be encouraged to read them and have a think about any contribution, no matter how small, you could make to the running of the club going forward. 2013 League Fixtures

The 2013 Surrey Championship fixtures have been released and the 1st XI have an early look at both sides promoted from the Fuller’s League, starting with a trip to the old Burpham CC ground to face Guildford City, (symmetrically GCCC were Stoke’s first opponents in Division 1 of the Fuller’s League in 2008), then we have a home tie against fellow promotees Old Paulines.
