Sunday XI beat the Badgers

Sunday 17th May 2015
Stoke D’Abernon 188 all out (39.4 overs)
Badgers CC 153 for 6 (40 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 35 runs

Stoke’s Sunday XI doubled their total of wins in 2015 by defending a total of 188 on a good pitch at the Rec.

The foundations were laid by Nico Spreeth and Peter Phipps who added 80 for the first wicket after a watchful start against new ball pair Jenkins and M.Smith – who both opened with maidens – before the runs started to flow. Read more

Stokers at The Oval on Friday 15th

Friday 15th May saw a big Stoke representation at the Oval for the T20 match against Glamorgan.

A number of familiar faces made the trip to see 455 runs.

2nd XI win at Chertsey

Chertsey 2nd XI 107 all out (37.1 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 109 for 3 (29.4 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI won by 7 wickets

Stoke’s 2nd XI recorded a second league win out of two with an efficient performance against a Chertsey side missing a few familiar faces due to 1st XI call-ups and an injury to their main all-rounder and captain. Read more

Stoke 1s disappointed with loss to Chertsey

Chertsey 216 for 3 (46.3 overs)
Chertsey won by 7 wickets

So the game finished and we lost. Disappointing, but that doesn’t tell the story.

First of all by the time we got to the bar after the game the scorebook was missing. Working on the assumption that one of the oppo may have taken it to copy it up and somehow neglected to leave it behind your correspondent gave Greg, (Chertsey CC captain), a call. Alas no sign of the scorebook here or there so I’m writing this report from memory. Read more

The Cricket Paper

Following on from our recent news article, (http://www.stokecc.co.uk/2015/03/19/stoke-team-up-with-the-cricket-paper/), amid all the Kevin Pietersen fall-out, it’s surprising that Peter Moores seems to be already long forgotten.

He went down without much of a fight but maintained his dignity, as proven by him attending last week’s Malahide washout. Now let’s see Moores prove the ECB wrong regardless of whether it was the right or wrong decision to sack him. Read more

Harrow Wayfarers 152 for 9 (44 overs)
Match Drawn

A match where the balance of power ebbed and flowed throughout ended in draw.

Batting first, Stoke openers Nico Spreeth and Baz Medlycott made steady progress, adding 38 at 4s before both fell in successive overs; Medlycott bowled repeating a shot that brought him runs the ball before; Spreeth, (17), was leg-before to left-armer Hallam who was his usual competitive but good-natured self throughout. 2nd XI beat 8-man Oxshott

Surrey Championship Division 4 – 2nd XI competition
Maori Oxshott 2nd XI 125 all out (29 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 126 for 2 (28.1 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI won by 8 wickets

Stoke’s 2nd XI won their opening League fixture at the Rec after making short work of an Oxshott side who were missing three players due to come down after playing their school match. In the end they never made it. Read more
