Sunday Cricket Washed Out

No cricket today as the rain finally caught up with us and caused our first washouts of the year.

The Stoke Rec was marginal at best, and another heavy shower this morning put paid to any chances of play, (the morning Under 12 match was also called off); so the next action at the Rec will be on Tuesday evening when the Stoke Under 19s host Esher in a must win T20 Blast match. 1st XI win at Alleyn

Stoke D’Abernon 225 for 9 declared (54.5 overs)
Alleyn 209 all out (45.2 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 16 runs

With four of the top sides playing each other meaning at least two clubs would drop points this week, Alleyn and Stoke knew that whoever won could recover some ground. It was Stoke who triumphed in a dramatic finish and hopefully some momentum can be gained from this win. Read more

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 159 all out (50.3 overs)
Alleyn 2nd XI 161 for 8 (48.5 overs)
Alleyn 2nd XI won by 2 wickets

After beating table-topping Guildford City last week, Stoke’s 2nd XI undid that good work with a clumsy home defeat to struggling Alleyn who won the middle over sections of each innings to help them take the points. Read more

Under 19s lose to Sunbury in the Final Over

Stoke Slayers 139 for 7 (20 overs)
Sunbury Chieftains 140 for 9 (19.2 overs)
Sunbury won by 1 wicket

Since the tournament’s inception in 2014 Stoke have only lost four of these games, but all of them have been in the last over, and the continuation of this trend leaves qualification for the next phase of the Under 19 T20 Blast potentially coming down to net-run-rate after a defeat to one of the competition’s stronger teams.
