Parkside School

We have an excellent relationship with Parkside School who allow us use of their pitches for colts matches.

Recently the numbers of players, officials and supporters at matches has increased and has thrown up issues like parking, litter, etc.

Greetings from overseas from David Willis

Once or twice a year SDCC contacts former captain David Willis, (brother of RGD and still a massive supporter of Stoke from afar), to see how he’s getting on.

Sixes

In 2013, Greg Routley and Dan Douthwaite jointly topped the Stoke Sixes League with 24 maximums. Thirty-five different players cleard the boundary on the full, (26 in 2012); the new entries to the list taking advantage of more T20 and 3rd XI cricket being played than ever before. 5 Wicket Hauls

The argument that cricket is a batsman’s or a bowler’s game is always one for debate. Statistically it is harder to score a century than to take a five wicket haul. 71 different players have scored 180 centuries for Stoke, but 187 different bowlers have taken a 5-for. Read more

Centuries

Seventy-two different players have scored a century for Stoke, (we also have one double-centurion); the earliest recorded was by the not-so aptly named Mr.Pratt, who scored 120 in his only appearance for the club in September 1948.

Ian Wellman and Phil Easton have scored the most centuries for the club, (twelve each); closely followed by Don Weller and Siddhatha Lahiri who each have eleven to their name. Don scored the last of his eleven hundreds in just his 70th innings for the club. (In 74 knocks he made 31 scores of 50 or more.) Read more

2014 Fixtures

The 2014 Surrey Championship fixtures have been released.

As per previous seasons the first four and the last five matches are 50-over contests; the middle nine fixtures between the 7th June and the 2nd August are played over a ‘declaration’ format. Read more
