1st XI up to 3rd with win at Old Wimbledonians

Saturday 30th June 2018
Travelbag Surrey Championship – Division 3
Stoke D’Abernon 199 all out (46.4 overs)
Old Wimbledonians 121 all out (35.1 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 78 runs

Stoke moved up one place in the table to 3rd after an impressive defence of their total.

Their 199 owed much to a generous helping of runs down the order as Alastair Curran, (52), Roddy Kelso, (30), and Kane Fullalove, (27), lifted Stoke out of a spot of bother at 92 for 6; only Tom Frost, (23), and Ian Hopton, (22), making double-figures from those in the top six positions in the order. Gordon led the bowling with 4 for 57.

Shawn Dyson and Will Frost got stuck into the hosts’ line-up after tea, reducing them to 21 for 4. Hopton and Dyson saw off the middle order; then Billy Zander, (3 for 19), the tail before Dyson, (9.1-1-32-4), closed out another maximum point haul with plenty of overs to spare.

Next week Stoke travel to Purley for the first return fixture of the season.
