Good news of the Under 12s from Kevin…
West Surrey Youth Cricket League – East
Stoke D’Abernon U12 157 for 1 (20 overs)
Weybridge Girls 122 for 5 (20 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon U12 won by 35 runs
Great to see Weybridge entering a full girls squad in the West Surrey League. Stoke were skippered by our own superstar Ella C, though, and we’re delighted that Beth D made her debut for Stoke also, Mum having contacted us following Shannon’s marketing efforts at St.Theresa’s School.
Stoke were put in to bat and enjoyed a good 20 overs, Ella opened with Max B and both reached 30 runs retired. Jack T hit 23 before a good run out, Caleb offered great support throughout reaching 15 not out whilst James M enjoyed himself coming in at five, hitting 32 off 18 balls including six fours, then allowing Max P to face 3 deliveries.
The opposition have not played too many matches and with more experience in the fielding and cutting down overthrows they will start to match the quality of their bowling which impressed all. Their spirits didn’t falter during the innings with positive encouragement for each other throughout.
In reply Weybridge put in a very good batting performance; Daisy reaching 27 runs, Henry F, (guesting for the girls), a power-packed 21 and Caitlin a well-deserved retirement on 30. Max B & Charlie both claimed a wicket for Stoke but the pick of the bowlers was Ella with a 3 wicket haul. The talent scouts at Weybridge have already made overtures to her earlier in the season & no doubt will be knocking on the door again! Hands off!

Whiteley Village U12 59 all out (15 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon U12 63 for 4 (10 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon U12 won by 7 wickets
Match report from Martin Bednall, who managed the game…
A comfortable win for Stoke against Whiteley Village.
Captain Ella won the toss and elected to bowl to allow the damp outfield time to dry before Stoke’s innings. A good all-round bowling performance limited Whiteley Village to just 59 all out after 15 overs. The pick of the bowlers was Max B with three wickets.
The fielding was very good with very few runs being given away, the highlight was a fantastic stop on the boundary from Jake and a superb catch from Aarav M with the ball flying at him at square leg.
The run target was reached with plenty of overs to spare, with opener and top scorer Theo amassing a majestic 34 not out.
We carried on playing after we had reached the target. Theo retired on 30 and then came back in. Once the opposition had bowled everyone they wanted to, we stopped.
