Under 10s Lose Narrowly but Management Proud

Sunday 3rd June 2018
West Surrey Youth Cricket League (East)
Esher U10 297
Stoke D’Abernon U10 292
Esher U10 won by 5 runs

Match report from Joel…

On a perfect summer day our boys played like legends against Esher and by no means looked outclassed. With Esher batting first our bowling and fielding was superb restricting them to only 97, (well 297 in the format.)

Across the patch ALL the boys bowled really tightly with many dot balls and far less wides than we usually see. Especially pleasing to see tidy figures from Spandan, Jake, Alfie, Knopf, James and Rory.

Alfie was also very solid behind the stumps. When it was our turn to bat we came out firing with a sparkling yet responsible start of 49 from Rory and Knopf. At that point the game looked ours.

However Esher fought back well in the field and we struggled a little more than we probably needed too. It all came down to the last over and we were literally pipped at the post only managing to end on 292.

Scoreline aside, as it could easily have gone our way, both Mark, (Bullingham), and I were delighted by the performance of all the boys as they showed a big improvement on last week.

Well done boys – you all did Stoke proud today!!!
