T20 win over Horsley & Send on CricInfo’s Radar

Stoke’s T20 victory over Horsley & Send last week went further than the already excellent local press coverage we receive.

CricInfo were interested and took up the challenge of finding other T20s, ODIs/List A or even Tests that had seen a last ball victory courtesy of byes or any extras. Here’s what three of their guys came up with…

Of those ODIs with on-line commentary available, only one has been won with a bye off the last possible ball…

There is also this instance when three were needed off the last ball, the bowler delivered a wide off which another run was taken to level the scores, and then the winning runs came off the bat on the last legal delivery.

The Trent Bridge ODI in 1989, (England v Australia), was tied thanks to a bye off the last ball.

The only Test to be won on the last possible ball, Durban 1948-49, was won with a leg bye…

This T20I between Pakistan and Afghanistan at Sharjah in 2013 was won by virtue of the last ball being a no-ball…
