Yesterday evening’s Trust League AGM left a few things to be done after no-shows from two of Stoke’s group opponents. So far all we have been able to arrange is:
Sunday 27th May 2018 – Walton-on-Thames (Home)
Sunday 17th June 2018 – Horsley & Send (Home)
Sunday 24th June 2018 – Walton-on-Thames (Away)
Sunday 8th July 2018 – Horsley & Send (Away)
We will be making contact with Byfleet and Godalming to complete the programme; after that we can start to fill in the Sunday friendly fixtures.
On the admin side, not all of the proposed rule changes, (http://www.stokecc.co.uk/2017/11/27/trust-league-groups-for-2018-announced/), were voted in. Here is what was discussed:
It was agreed that there should be no more than 5 fielders on the leg side.
Power Plays will NOT be introduced in 2018.
A free hit will be introduced for foot fault no balls.
Rain affected matches
a. The “golden half hour” will be introduced to prevent loss of overs
b. The current Surrey Championship run rate formula will be introduced.
c. However the clubs didn’t approve the proposal to set the run rate for the second innings at the start of the innings. There are rumours of changes to the Surrey Championship’s playing conditions, so some thoughts and a proposal will follow when we know what is decided there.
Bonus points for providing umpires will remain unchanged at 3 points, but the League will reduce the number of bonus points for providing a scorer to 2.
Stoke’s group was pre-‘drawn’ geographically ahead of the AGM, but on the night our followers may be interested to know how the other groups were drawn. Here goes:
Tier 1 – Group 1
Tier 1 – Group 2
Tier 2 – Group 1
Tier 2 – Group 2
East Grinstead *
Oxted & Limpsfield *
(* geographically allocated ahead of the draw)
Stay tuned for more fixture updates…
