Yesterday in South Africa, table-topping Western Province batted first against Bellville on the first day. Shawn found himself at the crease before lunch and needing support from Hoppy at the other end afterwards, (second highest partnership of the innings), to post a total. The innings eventually closed on 155 with Shawn stranded on 32.
In reply, the opposition didn’t get away due to a long spell from Hoppy. WPCC are likely to concede a first innings lead next weekend but the opposition have to stop at 60 overs so hopefully there is scope to make a score in the third innings and force a win on a wearing pitch.
In Australia England’s women have just completed a warm-up match against a Cricket Australia XI. Scores of 22, (at better than a run a ball), and 42 with the bat and fourteen overs in the match for Nat.
Nat has also penned the second part of her Ashes Diary…and Dad gets a mention: http://www.skysports.com/cricket/news/31996/11106709/nat-scivers-ashes-diary-thunder-lightning-whales-and-michael-jackson
In the West Indies Anthony has played in Barbados’ first two matches in the Regional 4-Day First Class tournament. 84 in the first innings of the drawn opener against Trinidad & Tobago. We won’t mention the next match.
