Guildford 82 all out (27 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 3rd XI 69 all out (32.2 overs)
Guildford won by 13 runs
Good availability for the League sides provided an opportunity to play an additional friendly match. In the end, numbers fell back after demands for players higher up the chain, another also pulled out two after confirming he was available; but Stoke still managed to get a team of ten and nearly pulled off a great win.
Guildford batted first and were rolled for 82 in just 27 overs. R.Moores top scored with 21 and there were only two other double-figure scorers, although 21 extras would prove costly.
All six bowlers used took wickets; Max Dunn, (6-1-20-3), led the way, Yash Sidana, (2 for 27), took his first wickets for the Club, and there was a wicket each for Patrick O’Neill, Rod Thomson, Kevin Morgan and Alex Clinton.
Wickets at regular intervals disrupted the Stoke reply. 20 for 1 became 34 for 4, (William Howard 14 on debut, O’Neill made the same score), leaving late call-up Malcolm Dunn setting out to bat overs and inch Stoke towards the finishing line.
Just as it looked like the hard work had been done, he lost a succession of partners and was stranded on 19 not out. Stoke collapsed from 67 for 4 to 69 all out to lose by 13 runs.
Thanks to Rod for managing this game.
