Horsley & Send 120 all out (42.1 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 123 for 1 (17.5 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 9 wickets
Stoke’s 1st XI secured back to back promotions with a nine wicket victory over already doomed Horsley & Send at The Rec.
The visitors chose to bat on winning the toss, and after some progress, (27 for the loss of one wicket taken by Charlie Hill), they were quickly 65 for 8; four wickets for Shawn Dyson, (10-3-18-4), two for Will Frost, (8-2-19-2), and Ian Hopton took a wicket with his second ball.
As can often happen, there were a couple, of partnerships; Collett, (34 not out), and Dennis, (17), moved the total past the 100-mark; but it was all over in the 43rd over when Hopton, (8.2-4-25-3), took the last wicket.
James Whitmarsh, Will Gudgeon and Hill each took two catches.
Hopton and James Trower got the chase off to a quick start, adding 37 in a little over six overs. The opposition were generous with a few wides.
After Hopton was run-out, Trower, (49 not out), and James O’Gorman, (40 not out), knocked off the remaining runs to secure PROMOTION in just the 18th over with a week to spare.
A great squad effort, 23 players have been used so far to achieve this objective; many of them into a very long session on the outfield given the early finish.
Stoke complete their League programme with a home game against Byfleet at The Rec next weekend.
