Amy Page Half-Century but Stoke Molesey Ladies lose at Twickenham

Sunday 20th August 2017
Women’s Cricket Southern League
Twickenham Women’s 1st XI 248 for 3 (40 overs)
Stoke Molesey Ladies 119 all out (31.5 overs)
Twickenham Women’s 1st XI won by 129 runs

A brave effort by the short-handed Stoke Molesey Ladies side who only had nine anyway and were quickly reduced to eight after Jenny Gluckman injured her back fielding in the first over. A request for a loan of a fielder or two was declined.

Twickenham were 24-0 off 11 overs, 84-1 off 20 and 106-1 off 25 as the girls did well, notably Charlotte Elworthy who returned excellent figures of 8-2-12-0.

Sadly bowling resources started to run out and Twickenham got up to 248 for 3; Amy Page, (1-39), the only other bowler to take a wicket although another was taken courtesy of a run-out.

In reply Page and Elworthy gave some hope in the chase, reaching 77-1 off the first 19 overs; however Elworthy’s dismissal for 28 left the middle and lower order a bit to do.

Page made a brilliant 57, but after she was out at 103-4 it was over soon after as Stoke Molesey fell to 119 all out.

A great effort given the challenges that were faced from the start.

Our thanks to Andy Berry for these updates.
