Off the back of last Sunday’s fixture against Battersea Eagles, the following e-mail from their skipper has come into the Club in-box:
Thanks for the great game we enjoyed with you Sunday.
We were part of a fantastic game out there at yours, played in best spirit.
Regardless of the result, it’s nice to see a good friendly game, played between two good sides, with a smile on everyone’s faces, without any politics, or confrontations, grudges or bad feelings or lack of discipline.
It was pleasing to see everyone stay behind, (at the bar), after the game to socialise for a while, (with a few drinks.) THAT is what friendly cricket is about, (nothing too serious.)
I think, (so far), you had the best bunch of players we played with/against in recent years. A decent game of cricket between two competitive sides, resulted in a good thriller cherished by all, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it right from the word go until we shook hands and said goodbye.
It was wonderful and delightful to witness a good game between two fairly ‘equal strength’ sides, who took their cricket seriously, as well as enjoy the occasional laugh and banter at regular intervals.
Thanks for hosting and well done to your boys for their great spirit & friendly attitude.
Please let me know if/when you happen to have a gap or cry-off throughout your fixtures. It would be great to come down again; or perhaps have a “season ender” fixture before the end of this summer.
We’ll see what we can do…
