March Update for Women – Help Needed

Emma and SDCC have received a “March Update” from Vicki Howard, Cricket Participation Officer at Surrey CCC. The following items are applicable to the Stoke Molesey Ladies Section and we ask that you help Emma and Andy where you can:

Insights sessions with Lydia Greenway
We are lucky to have ex-England international Lydia Greenway, (http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/content/player/53709.html), running insight sessions again this year, following the positive feedback received from last year’s sessions. With three sessions lined up, please don’t miss out in getting involved and taking the knowledge you learn back to your club environment.

The first of our insight sessions is aimed at those playing as part of a senior side, and is taking place on Monday 20th March 2017 from 7pm at Surrey Cricket Centre, George Abbot School.

This session will cover the tactical side of the game from setting a field, looking for clues from batters and developing an understanding as to the difference between setting and chasing totals.

The two further sessions will be running on the following dates:
* 20th April 2017 from 7pm – Surrey Cricket Centre, George Abbot School – Insights into batting – U14+ – Spaces limited
* 17th May 2017 from 6pm – Reigate Priory Cricket Club – Insights into fielding – U14+

If you would like to book a place on any of these free sessions, please e-mail wandg@surreycricket.com to reserve your space.

Surrey Womens Leagues
Not long to go until the first games within both the Surrey Womens Trust League and the Southern League! Good luck to all those clubs playing in these fixtures! May it be a bright & sunny season!

That means good luck to us as we join the Southern League and play longer format cricket for the first time in a while. Fixtures here : http://www.stokecc.co.uk/2015-women-girls-xi-fixtures/

New for 2017: Ladies SMASH IT festivals for ages 17+
A brand new opportunity for ladies across the county is being offered to help inspire more women back into the game, cross over from other sports or those that just want to have fun in the sun.

These adult focused festivals will be a chance for ladies to get together in a safe & comfortable local environment, play a bit of soft-ball Smash It cricket whilst socialising with friends and enjoying a glass or two of bubbly!

Currently we have had the following clubs hosting a festival. Once the ECB have finalised the central booking system I will send you all the link to register for these.

1st May 2017 – Sutton Ladies
6th August 2017 – Godalming Ladies
28th August 2017 – Newdigate CC (Girls festival in the morning)
Chertsey Ladies and Pyrford CC – Dates to be confirmed

We would like to add ourselves to this list. Please help Emma and Andy, (emmablaikie2@gmail.com and andy15berry@yahoo.co.uk), to let them know how you can make this happen.
