Match Abandoned – No Play

Frustration for Stoke and Sheen Park as efforts on the part of both clubs to raise teams came to nothing.

Prospects of play seemed bleak as persistent morning drizzle made for a miserable looking Stoke Rec as the home players arrived to set things up; but the pitch was dry under the cover so if the rain blew away there might have been some play.

However shortly before the scheduled start of play the opposite occurred. The drizzle turned to more steady rain, and no wind meant no play.

Messers Mills and Coleman, (the former celebrating his birthday), stopped back to discuss the League season over a couple of beers. The rain was still falling when the security alarm was set a couple of hours later, the weather having not changed, making the earlier decision to call the game the correct one.

By lucky coincidence Sheen Park are looking for an away fixture next week, Stoke a home game, so we’ll have another go next weekend.
