Narrow Trust League Win for the Academy

Sunday 19th June 2016
Surrey Trust League
Stoke D’Abernon 213 all out (32.4 overs)
Godalming 209 all out (39.5 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon won by 4 runs

Stoke’s Academy nearly paid the penalty for not using 7.2 of their allotted 40 overs at Godalming, but did enough to maintain their 100% record in the competition with a narrow win.

Adrian Taylor registered a Stoke career best 88, Alistair Curran made 41 and a generous helping of 36 extras saw Stoke record a total of 213. James Trower, (18 not out), was the only other Stoke player to make double-figures.

The fielding effort was led by the Townsend brothers. Ben, (7-1-25-3), and Jack, (8-0-44-3), shared six wickets, Giacomo Gray took another and Baz Medlycott also bagged three, 3 for 43 from 6.5 overs including the final wicket with the opposition needing five runs from the last three balls.

The Academy are next in action on the 10th July when they play Guildford. This is provisionally an away fixture but the match may be switched to Stoke. Stay tuned for details.
