Match Double for Medders as 2s draw at Oxted

Surrey Championship Division 3 – 2nd XI Competition
Oxted & Limpsfield 2nd XI 249 for 7 declared (50.5 overs)
Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 236 for 9 (50 overs)
Winning Draw to Oxted & Limpsfield 2nd XI

With the Gudgeon wedding demanding all available resource being moved across to Saturday and, of course, the 1st XI having first pick, a much-changed 2nd XI secured a draw at Oxted.

Stoke were indebted to Keith Medlycott for his contribution, bowling a 22 over spell and taking 5 for 81. He latterly hit 54 with the bat.

This was not a one-man show, however. Stephen Anderson also hit 54 and Nick Lo 76, the latter backing up an earlier 2-for in the field.

For the hosts, openers Ranson, (55), Durrany, (54), and No.4 Howard, (79), enabled former Stoke 1st XI keeper Greg Miller to declare after 50.5 overs on 249.

Five matches to go and realistically Stoke need to win three of them, possibly four, to survive. Whilst other results not going in their favour would be an understatement, this point might still prove crucial in the final standings. They start the run in with a trip to Camberley next Saturday.
