Match report and huge praise from Amy Page…

Stoke Molesey travelled Dulwich on Sunday to play Streatham & Marlborough for the second time this season. Stoke Molesey won the toss and chose to bat.

Katie and Louisa opened the batting and were both looking very strong, batting sensibly for the first 5 overs. Good bowling from Mazur caused Louisa to edge it to the keeper Banton, taking a good catch leaving Stoke Molesey 18 for 1.

Alex went in at three but fell to Selwyn-Kuczera. Amy P went in at four and began to build a steady partnership with Katie, who continued to respect the good ball and punish the bad. Together the pair put on a partnership of 69 keeping out exceptionally tight bowling by Williams, Hassan and Newman.

The pair began to up the run rate but the partnership ended with Katie being run out in the 22nd over by a direct hit, a fantastic innings which was equal to that of a half century. Stoke Molesey were now 90 for 3. Emma strode in to bat, and after finding her feet played a beautiful shot through the covers, earning shot of the match.

Amp P then fell to accurate bowling from Quade in the 24th over, making way for Amy S, who wasted no time and scored a quick 5 runs before the end of the innings giving us 118-4.

After tea, Jenny and Amy S opened the bowling and straight away put Streatham & Marlborough under pressure with their pace and accuracy, with Jenny taking off Quade’s bails in the first over.

The pair kept up the intensity with Jenny taking a second wicket bowling Hassan. The number four bat, Selwyn-Kuczera fell to Amy S’ solid bowling leaving Streatham & Marlborough on 25 for 3.

Jenny’s and Amy’s quality bowling partnership ended, leaving Louisa and Maddie to begin their spells. Louisa bowled from the top end, taking a wicket with her first ball clean bowling Masur with a yorker. Maddie bowled at a good length from the opposing end.

Olivia then stepped up and kept the middle order batters under pressure. Anya then began her spell with a brilliantly bowled clean wicket off of her first ball alongside Katie at the opposing end, who dismissed their opening bat Williams and their number seven Banton.

With Streatham & Marlborough one player down, it was down to Katie and Sophie to find the last wicket. Batters Peters-McCalla and Newman dug in and held their ground but it was Sophie who broke their stout defence with a solid caught and bowled to close their innings.

I could not fault the overall fielding performance, there were no mis-fields, everyone chased down the ball and Alex performed fantastically behind the stumps. The only negative note to take away from the game was the number of extras we gave away which primarily consisted of no balls and wides, which amassed to 72 in total!!! This being said the fielding, batting and overall attitude towards the game from every player was great to see.

The day ended with Sophie being awarded player of the match for her constant alertness in the outfield throughout the second innings, as well as her caught and bowled wicket at the end.

Fantastic work guys, was a pleasure to watch.
