More news in from the colts section in addition to this one – http://www.stokecc.co.uk/2014/06/17/colts-round-up-7/ which has additional images including a copy of the book evidencing Charlie Kerslake’s blitz – starting with a good win for the Under 13s

West Surrey Youth Cricket League Gladys Chitty U13
Stoke D’Abernon U13 144 for 5 (20 overs)
Walton-on-Thames U13 100 all out
Stoke D’Abernon U13 won by 44 runs

Friday night with the sun shining and good cricket from all, writes Danny Broomfield.

Ryan and Alfie opened the batting, Ryan hitting numerous fours from off his legs, Alfie also scoring freely. Both retired at 30, but if Walton thought things might get easier then they had not counted on Barney coming in and hitting a very entertaining 32. Toby got some welcome runs and Patrick hit a few at the end.

We soon had Walton in trouble after the break with three of their top four getting ducks. Alfie, Ryan, Zach, Toby, Alex and Patrick all took wickets.

We also saw the first outing for the Louwe brothers in the same team; Tom as our under 13 and his little 9 year old brother Maartin both added to our fine bowling attack.

Walton put up gutsy resistance with 39 from James to add to his 3 wickets but were finally out for 100 after a sharp stumping from Barney to round off a great personal performance from him.

Thanks to all who helped with food, bar, scoring and ground work.

Under 11s
Update from Trevor Davis…

Bad news is we were knocked out of the Mid Surrey Cup by Sheen Park on Sunday.

The boys played well, particularly Tim L, (30 retired and a fine catch behind the stumps), and Finn C who made 10 and took 2 catches, (the first of which had to be the catch of the season in covers), but we were unfortunate to suffer 2 lbws and a singular performance by Sheen’s top player who produced 30(retired) and 4 wkts for 4 runs in 3 overs.

Nevertheless, the game was played in a great spirit and I was particularly proud of Mark W who volunteered that he’d hit his wicket when neither umpire saw how it happened. Some things are more important than winning!

Well done to the boys, and better luck in the West Surrey Cup this weekend.

On that note, the good news is that we have three home games this weekend including the postponed Friday 13th game that will now take place during club training on Monday 23rd June.

Thanks to Marcus for the scoring honours last week. Please could I also get some more volunteers for this week’s games, including the bar on Friday evening?
