“Thanks to all the players and parents that turned out today…” writes Rod Thomson, “…It was a very comfortable win this morning against a weakened Esher side thanks to a splendid opening partnership between Ben Holder and skipper Alastair Curran.

Ben retired on 61, Ali went on to hit 52 and Charlie Spawforth made a very solid 34 not out to give Stoke a total score of 174.

In reply Esher never looked comfortable and Finlay Deuchar took the opening three wickets including a great caught & bowled.

Jack Townsend and Ollie John took over and each took a further three wickets to effectively finish off the game. The fielding was good and late on we saw Alex Thomson take a great catch low down at forward square leg, and Alastair snap up a well-hit shot at short cover in a diving catch to his right.

Well done on this opening game of the season.

Our next game is at home against WIMBLEDON at 9:15am for a 9:45am start on Sunday 11th May. Please let me have your availability.”
