Sunday XI lose to the Badgers

Sunday XI Friendly
Stoke D’Abernon 196 for 7 (40 overs)
Badgers 201 for 7 (40 overs)
Badgers won by three wickets

Stoke’s Sunday side lost with six balls to spare to the Badgers in an entertaining match.

Batting first on winning the toss, Stoke skipper Chris Finch was lost to an early run-out, but Nico Spreeth, (33), and Dan Gluckman, (who hit a career best 62 from 59 balls), moved the total on at pace.

Debutant Harry Edwards hit 21, and Jase Earl got valuable time in the middle, adding 38. Useful lower order contributions from Matt Lo and Moumer Khara boosted the total to 196 for 7 from 40 overs.

In reply, Walker made light of a calf-strain to hit a career best 90. Spreeth, (2-42), Gluckman, (2-44), and Rod Thomson, (2-17 before sustaining a hand injury attempting a catch off his own bowling), backed-up Earl’s miserly spell of 1 for 13 from his allotted eight overs; but Gordon, (25), and Valentine, (20 from 18 with the winning hit for six), saw the visitors through to victory.

Matt Lo put on a tidy performance behind the stumps and there was a debut for young Alex Thomson. Remember the name.
