John Crisp completes Marathon

Congratulations to John Crisp on completing the London Marathon at the weekend. Whilst he’s resting his limbs he’s taken time to pen this message to the Stoke massive:“It is all over, and I can safely say that 4 months’ beer abstinence was well worth it.

An incredilble day and experience, from the fantastic weather, to the streets lined by the throngs of supporters and bands.

Managed to see Lynne, Robert and Katy on Tower Bridge and then again at 20 miles, which was awesome.

I was happy with the run and came in at 3 hours, 53 minutes and 52 seconds – I had hoped to go under 4 hours and so am pleased.  The first 20 miles were OK and at that point I was hoping for sub 3:45, however it got harder from there on in and the last 4-5 miles were very tough.

I had planned to sprint through the finish line, but in the end I did all I could to get through running, rather than walking.

I would do it again in a flash, as long as I secure a place.

Once again, thank you for your support, encouragment and incredible genorisity!

Best wishes
John”
