2nd XI lose to Alleyn & Honor Oak

Surrey Championship Division 4 – 2nd XI competition

Stoke D’Abernon 2nd XI 203 for 8 (50 overs)

Alleyn & Honor Oak 2nd XI 205 for 4 (42 overs)

Alleyn & Honor Oak 2nd XI won by 6 wickets

Stoke’s second string suffered a second successive defeat, but the day was marred by form man Steve Wade being taken to hospital after wearing a full toss, taking no further part in the game.

Peter Phipps, (47), Andy Page, (39 not out), and Graham Tufts, (26), top scored but Stoke’s 50 over total of 203 for 8 was considered upwards of 40 runs light.

However no-one appeared to tell Stoke bowlers Richie Parrett and Jake Lavender who bowled well to reduce the visitors to 26 for 4 in reply.

However the remainder of the runs were knocked off without further loss by S.Van Der Merwe, (69 not out), and Foley, (stranded on 98 not out – AOH), as ten man Stoke fell to a six wicket defeat after 42 overs despite a keen and improved fielding display.

Next week the 2s hope to get back to winning ways as they travel to Imber Court to take on the Met Police.
