Under 15s lose narrowly in Final

Adam Cooke writes about last Sunday’s West Surrey Youth Cricket League Under 15s Final:

It was one hell of an exciting match between the top two teams in the area, not to mention an intriguing local derby. It was a match where the highlights of it would have been the whole thing. Words can’t do the game justice so I’ll give the figures and let you add the dialogue.

Man of the Match – Matt for his best bowling figures of the season

It was a fantastic effort by the boys, they never gave up even when it looked as though Esher were cruising. A tie would have been the fairer result as both sides deserved to win. We batted well against some extremely good bowling, bowled tight and accurately and took some memorable catches, Ed particularly. On the day Esher were better but I strongly believe that Stoke’s team is much better as we don’t rely on a few players, we use the whole team. The boys should be very proud of themselves to have gotten this far and to have pushed Esher as much as we did.

Thank you to Ray for scoring again and thank you to the dedicated supporters for supporting the boys when they needed it most and helping them turn it around. It’s been a great season and a pleasure to coach the boys. There are a few friendlies coming up and the adult season is underway so make sure if they want to play you let myself and Andrew Trower know.

Kind Regards

Adam
