Sunday XI lose by 42 runs at Kingston

After dismissing their hosts for 161 the Sunday XI made a promising start in reply but collapsed from 49 for no wicket to 119 all out.

Alex Bond led the Stoke bowling effort with 3 for 32 from ten overs. Rod Thomson, (2-15), took his first wickets for the club and there was a wicket each for Richie Parrett, Sam Bradford-Smith and 1st XI keeper batsman Tom Frost who would have taken notes on the stumping off his bowling by Rick Mustill!

Frost opened the batting with Adam Cooke and was first out for 33 having hit seven fours, reducing his average for the season from 102.50 to a meagre 88.60!

With no additon to the score Cooke followed for 17 and for the second week running the middle order mis-fired as Stoke collapsed to 98 for 8.

Only Bond, coming in at number 9, passed 20 with three fours and a six in his unbeaten 23, and in the end Stoke were well beaten as Sheppard took 5 for 12; the Stoke innings lasting just 25.4 overs.

Next week the Sunday XI host Wisley & Southside who include a number of current and former Stoke players in their ranks.
